The short answer
Human, Minotaur and Elf are the three playable races confirmed for the Early Access launch.
Current races
The current roster is Human, Minotaur and Elf. All three are named in the Early Access launch announcement.
Early Access launch announcement ↗Elf
The official September 2 update graphic presents Elf as a dual-wielding race with an emphasis on speed and mobility. This is a race description, not evidence that every Shadow class pairing dual-wields.
Official Early Access update graphic ↗How race and class fit together
Choose a race alongside your class to form an Archetype. The official system describes distinct skill trees for those pairings, so your class is only one part of the decision.
Read the class guide for the three classes and nine descriptive pairings. Choose a playstyle you want to explore; this guide does not rank races by power.
Weapons and your first build
Revvy’s character walkthrough describes race-linked weapons: Human has a sword and ranged bow option, Minotaur a battle axe, and Elf twin daggers. Pixel Rookie calls the Human ranged weapon a crossbow. We retain that terminology difference rather than inventing two separate weapon choices.
A Mage can therefore still have the Minotaur axe or Elf daggers. Check the pairing’s passive as well as the weapon before allocating attributes. The character creation guide explains the decision, and the builds guide turns it into practical skill priorities.

Eight races are advertised for the wider game. This does not mean all eight are currently selectable. Fairy appears in an older design example and is not in the launch roster.
